Ways to study

  • Take your course online or face-to-face, or choose a combination of the two.

  • Study full-time to get qualified in as little as four weeks.

  • Study part-time and choose a course lasting from a few months to a year.

  • Get real-life teaching practice with groups of learners in a face-to-face classroom, online or both.

What's in the course?

By the end of the course, you'll learn how to:

  • plan and teach lessons that are tailored to learners' needs and abilities

  • use a variety of teaching approaches

  • teach the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking

  • understand and have a greater awareness of language.

Assessment

There's no final exam - you'll be assessed through your teaching practice and classroom-related written assignments throughout the course.

These modules will introduce you to the CELTA course and the key theories and concepts it covers. They can be completed before you start your course, to build your knowledge and confidence and give you a head start.

The modules can be completed at your own pace and in any order.

Introduction to the CELTA course 

This module explains how CELTA works and introduces the course components.

Introduction to language teaching and learning 

This module outlines the theories of language teaching and learning which underpin the practical CELTA course.  

Introduction to language awareness

This module raises your awareness of different features of lexis, grammar and pronunciation, and supports you to apply this throughout your CELTA course.
