English is more than a language: it is the lingua franca of international business and academia, the key to work and opportunities, a requirement to graduate and move forward in education. This is fantastic news and a very solid set of reasons, but is that all there is to it? Are those the most powerful reasons why we choose to learn English? And how about learners who are not attracted by these arguments?
In this session we will explore a different set of motivations to engage with English, looking beyond what is useful into the ways learning a language connects to what we love, how we understand the world, and ultimately to who we are. Let’s celebrate everything else English has to offer, and how this can help our students discover new levels of engagement with the language!
As the school year draws to a close, providing students with meaningful feedback is crucial for their continued growth and motivation. This presentation will explore practical strategies for delivering effective and positive feedback that not only acknowledges students’ achievements but also guides them towards future success. Participants will learn how to craft feedback that is specific, actionable, and encouraging, fostering a supportive learning environment. We will discuss the importance of balancing praise with constructive criticism, using language that motivates and inspires, and tailoring feedback to individual student needs. By the end of this session, teachers will be equipped with the tools to leave their students feeling confident and prepared for the next academic year.
This talk will explore five essential self-care skills that teachers can cultivate to enhance their well-being and sustain their professional growth. These skills include mindfulness, which promotes emotional awareness and helps teachers stay grounded during challenging moments, and connection, which emphasizes the importance of fostering supportive relationships with colleagues and loved ones to combat isolation. Addressing physical needs—such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and adequate sleep—is vital for maintaining energy and overall health. The session will also highlight the power of visualization as a tool for stress management and maintaining a balanced mindset. Additionally, building resilience enables teachers to navigate the inevitable pressures of their profession with greater strength and optimism. This interactive session will engage participants in a series of short, practical self-care exercises that demonstrate how to integrate these skills into their daily lives.

How can we help young learners of all ages become more independent in their learning? In this practical session we will look at a range of simple activities that help our students develop Learning to Learn, a key life competency that will help them as they progress through their education and their English language learning journey. These will include activities that encourage them to be more proactive in speaking activities, record vocabulary more methodically and use simple techniques for improving their written work, as well as activities that help them reflect on their progress.
In today’s classrooms, students bring diverse backgrounds, skills, and learning needs—especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and one of the biggest challenges in teaching English today is giving each student the right level of challenge—not too easy, not too hard—while managing a classroom with widely varying skill levels. Some students finish tasks quickly and need more stimulation, while others struggle to keep up. How can teachers balance these differences effectively without doubling their workload?
In this practical session, we’ll explore how differentiation can help you engage all learners, ensuring that both struggling and thriving students make progress. You’ll leave with ready-to-use strategies, including:
✅ Flexible grouping to encourage peer learning and collaboration
✅ Choice-based tasks that allow students to work at their own level
✅ Scaffolding techniques to support struggling learners without holding others back
✅ Tech tools to personalize learning without extra prep time
✅ Real-world tasks that make English meaningful for every student
Join us to discover how small, practical adjustments can make a big impact—helping you teach more effectively, reduce frustration, and keep all students engaged.
Digital tools can be used to enhance the relevance of learning experiences, and foster collaboration and interaction.
Yet, with so many options, teachers often ask: Which strategies are most effective for developing students' speaking skills, especially in the lower proficiency levels?
This session tackles this question by demonstrating practical, adaptable techniques for using digital tools alongside Cambridge Materials.
We'll explore how to design collaborative speaking activities that engage learners.
