We all want our lessons to feel enjoyable, relevant and motivating for our students and for us too. These two sessions look at how we can build autonomy, competence and connection into our teaching so that learning feels real, engaging and helps learners see their own progress along the way. In this session, we will explore what really drives motivation and how small changes to classroom routines or coursebook tasks can make learning more meaningful and enjoyable.

Presenter: Charles Stewart
In this interactive session, we will explore Integrated Learning and Assessment (ILA) — a framework built around four key pillars: collecting evidence of learning, informing teaching, providing actionable feedback and fostering learner autonomy. This session reflects Cambridge University Press & Assessment’s commitment to ILA — helping teachers and learners worldwide make learning visible, meaningful and continuous. Through examples from Cambridge Materials , we will discover practical strategies and classroom examples that demonstrate how learning and assessment can work hand in hand to enhance student engagement, progress and motivation.

Presenter: Charles Stewart
In this interactive workshop, we will explore practical ways to help young learners succeed in the Cambridge Digital Young Learner Exams. Together, we will look closely at each part of the exam and discover engaging classroom activities designed to build the skills and confidence students need in a digital testing environment, whilst maximizing the learning experience in the classroom. Participants will leave with a range of adaptable strategies and ready-to-use ideas to make exam preparation both effective and enjoyable.

Presenter: Emma Heyderman
In this session, we will try out practical ways to make familiar coursebook activities more engaging and interactive. Using examples from Complete Preliminary B1, we’ll explore how small tweaks can spark motivation, encourage active participation and naturally build in moments of reflection and feedback helping learners see their progress as they learn.

Presenter: Darren Perrett
Cambridge assessments provide rich insights into candidates’ performance across the four language skills. While teachers and centres are familiar with overall skill-level outcomes, such as Reading at B2 or Writing at C1, less attention is often paid to the underlying task types (e.g. open cloze, gapped fill) that make up each skill. In this session, we take a deeper look at data from Romanian candidates from the past academic year to identify which specific task types present the greatest challenges for learners. By analysing these patterns, teachers can better understand where students tend to struggle and use this evidence to target classroom practice more effectively. Join us to explore how Cambridge data can empower teachers to make data-informed decisions and strengthen learner outcomes across all skills.

Wrapping up our Cambridge Day with an awards ceremony that highlights the most impactful insights and inspiring work of our educators.
